Join Your Parish Council!
2nd March 2023
The local elections are coming up on 4th May and these include parish council elections. We have at least one vacancy on the council, so if this is something that you have been considering, now is the time to apply!
Being a parish councillor can be a very rewarding role. You will have a say in some of the things that happen in Eynsford and can lobby other bodies to make changes too. Eynsford Parish Council meets twice a month on the first Monday and third Thursday of the month. The parish council has lots of responsibilities and you can read more on this website. Here is a summary of the role.
Sevenoaks District Council, who will be managing the elections, have published information relating to the upcoming elections and if you wish to nominate yourself for a position you must complete the forms and submit them in person between 20 March and 4 April 2023. Full details are here.
"Nominations will open on Monday 20 March at 10am and close at 4pm on Tuesday 4 April.
Nominations can be submitted on any week day from 10am to 4pm to the Conference Room at the Council Offices, Argyle Road, TN13 1HG.
Nomination papers are available online at https://www.electoralcommission.org.uk/i-am-a/candidate-or-agent/parish-council-elections-england
Nomination papers for independent candidates are provided in Part 2a and for party candidates in Part 2b.
We will kindly be asking that candidates wishing to submit nomination papers book an appointment. This is not essential, but it is likely to save them from waiting until a colleague is available to accept their papers. Appointments can be booked by emailing elections@sevenoaks.gov.uk or calling 01732 227000 and asking to speak to the Elections Team."
