New Hedge Planted behind Parish Office

New Hedge Planted behind Parish Office

We have recently arranged for a new hedge to be planted along the access road behind the parish office. Last year we had to remove two trees in this area for safety reasons and decided to see if we could improve this small area.

We put in a bid for new hedging through North West Kent Countryside Partnership who were running a scheme funded by the Darent Valley Landscape Partnership. We were successful, although the planting was delayed due to Covid restrictions.

In December, members of the Green Team and the Parish Council cleared the area of nettles, roots and other weeds. Last week the hedge was planted by North West Kent Countryside Partnership.

The parish council will maintain the hedge which is a mixture of native species, and hope that it will provide a habitat for wildlife in the future.

If you know of any areas in which trees or hedges could be planted, do let us know.
