Parish Council helps to ensure continuation of Eynsford's Warm Space
31st August 2023
Eynsford Parish Council was pleased to ensure the continuation of the popular community facility ‘The Space’ by passing on a grant it received from Kent County Council to support residents experiencing hardship as a result of the cost-of-living crisis and for those dealing with social isolation.
The grant of £980 will enable The Space to continue to provide these much-needed services to local residents.
The Space was set up by members of the Darent Valley Community Church in December 2022 as a warm space where residents could go for company and to save on heating bills. Free breakfast, lunch and hot drinks are also provided. This takes place every Wednesday at the Riverside Club, Eynsford between 9am and 1pm.
Since it started The Space has proved to be very popular and attracts 60 – 90 people every week. Those that attend play games, take part in crafts and catch up with friends and neighbours. It has attracted people of all ages.
Adrian Elms, Pastor of the Darent Valley Community Church says “We are delighted that the Space has been so effective and popular in bringing our community back together and for the support received from Eynsford Parish Council.”
Earlier in the year Eynsford Parish Council donated £300 to The Space for a fridge to store food.
Cllr Vince Robson attended The Space to present a cheque to Adrian Elms, Pastor of Darent Valley Community Church whose team set up this community facility.
