Restoration of the Coronation Fountain
28th February 2023
The parish council recently agreed to pay for the repair and restoration of the water fountain at the bottom of Bower Lane, opposite the war memorial.
The water fountain was 'erected by the people of Eynsford in commemoration of the coronation of His Majesty King Edward VII MCMII'.
Edward VII, the eldest son of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert was crowned on 9th August 1902. He reigned until his death in 1910 when he was succeeded by his son George V.
The works will include cleaning the fountain, repairing and reglazing damaged bricks, and replacing any missing mortar. The bottom part of the fountain will be protected against further damage by a screen.
We hope that these works will be completed in time for the coronation of King Charles III.
